Cub Scout Pack 30 Webpage

The pack's October activity was an Outing at the Egbert Farm in Palestine.

 

Wolf den members Raymond Kelley, Will Robinson, and  Lakota Wooten performed the flag ceremony followed by the Scout Oath and Law.

 

Tyler Turner from the DNR displayed furs and answered questions. Mike Murray from Crossroads General Store displayed traps used in trapping.

 

Cubs receiving advancements:

The Cub Scouts who attended the Fall Camporee at Camp Kootaga last weekend earned their Archery and BB belt loop.

 

The Cub Scout shooting sports programs must be conducted on a district or council level, with specific restrictions on activities like archery, BB gun shooting, and slingshot shooting. All shooting ranges must be supervised by a qualified Rangemaster.

 

In earning the BB gun belt loop our Cubs (1) Explain what you should do if you find a gun (2) Identify and wear the appropriate safety gear (3) Demonstrate proper range commands (4) Show how to use the safety mechanism (5) Demonstrate how to properly load, fire, and secure your BB gun (6) Demonstrate one of the positions for shooting a BB gun (7) Fire at least ten shots at the target.

 

In earning the Archery belt loop our Cubs (1) Learn the archery range safety rules and whistle commands (2) Demonstrate proper stance and shooting techniques (3) Shoot five arrows at a target three times (4) Demonstrate how to safely retrieve arrows (5) How to put away and properly store their archery shooting equipment after use.

 

Cubs who spent a night camping at Camp Kootaga also completed Let’s Camp adventure.

 

In earning the Tiger’s Roar adventure our Tigers: (1) Watch the Protect Yourself Rules video (2) Demonstrate Shout, Run, Tell as explained in the Protect Yourself Rules video (3) Demonstrate how to access emergency services (4) Demonstrate that your know what to do if you get lost or separated.

In earning the Paws on the Path adventure our Wolf Scouts: (1) Identify the Cub Scout Six Essentials (2) Learn about the buddy system and how it works outdoors (3) Identify appropriate clothes and shoes for your walk (4) Learn about the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace Principles for Kids (5) With your den, pack, or family take a walk outside for at least 30 minutes to explore nature.

In earning Bears on Bikes adventure our Bear Scouts: (1) Show how to properly wear a bicycle helmet (2) Decide what you should wear when riding a bike (3) Demonstrate proper hand signals (4) Demonstrate how to adjust saddle height (5) Demonstrate how to operate brakes (6) Learn how use a pump to inflate tires. Discuss why riding with low-pressure or flat tires is unsafe and cause damage to your bike (7) With your family, den, or pack follow the buddy system and go on a 30-minute bike ride.

In earning Aware and Care adventure or Webelos Scouts: (1) Do an activity that shows the challenges of being visually impaired (2) Do an activity that challenges of being hearing impaired (3) Explore barriers to access (5) Meet someone who has a disability or someone who works with people with disabilities about what obstacles they must overcome and how they do it.
